Unsuccessful resolutions have been struke-out.

  1. That at least 50% of next year's conference be devoted to practical or campaign specific workshops, plenaries and skill-sharing.
  2. That QC support National Sharing of the organizational responsibility of QC.
  3. That there be a National brainstorm of things that need to be done/roles that need filling for QC to happen (i.e. coordinating workshops, coordinating a plenary making the conference booklet.) Each campus elects a person to communicate with the Canberra collective for QC.
  4. That at next years QC the first day will include an educational session including:
    • explanation of standing orders
    • explanation of facilitator's role
    • plenaries / workshops on history of struggle, sexism and racism, basic queer theory and debates
    • explanation of what is unacceptable negative behaviour / discriminatory / prejudice; what is sexist / racist and why?; what the grievance procedures are.
    • Affirmative action and progress speaking lists be explained
    • Dummy process to allow for people to interact in a process format of the conference
  1. That on the first day of QC we break into small groups (10-15) and at some stage for half an hour to discuss peoples aims in coming to the conference with a report back to the group.
  2. That at the end of each day people in assigned random groups off the registration lists meet up to discuss their experiences of the day.
  3. That the facilitation of next years QC be shared between two people all the time with different people doing it each session. These people should not necessarily be from the organizing collective. One of the facilitators should be someone who hasn't had much experience facilitating large group discussions. The other person can be someone who is experienced. The more experienced person should teach the other one about how to deal with motions and the like. Women and people from NESB/people of colour should be prioritised as facilitators.
  4. That the conference floor be the highest decision making body.
  5. That the resolutions passed at previous QC be binding to the new organizing collective within reason. If situations change through out the year these resolutions can be changed through raising them from the floor on the first day of the conference.
  6. That we have a box for each university attending the conference for people to put information, publications, stickers, posters etc, into throughout the conference so each university can take it back to their collective.
  7. That we start archiving resolutions, minutes, plenaries workshops and information about each QC to store in the Lesbian and Gay archives. They are also put on the Internet. That this be done by the organizing collective.
  8. It is the responsibility of the facilitator to ensure that there is no heckling or shouting of “shame” during the conference.
  9. That there shall be a national travel pool organized for the conference to assist with the travel expenses for those from WA, NT, Tas, Nth QLD, and small & regional/rural conferences.
  10. That QC has an empty plenary session near the conclusion of each day where we can discuss things that have arisen throughout the conference. That conference floor decides whether to address the issue immediately or to postpone it to the empty session.
  11. That plenary papers, workshop and other material from QC 2001 be collated by the NUS National Queer officers in conjunction with the Newcastle OC And that it be circulated to all campuses & interested parties.
  12. That the QC2001 demand the immediate repeal of ALL Voluntary Student Unionism (VSU) legislation as it directly impacts on the ability of Stud Assoc to organize & agitate.
  13. That plenaries are followed by a period of discussion & argument, with a time limit decided by the floor (with a minimum of half an hour), at future QC's.
  14. That Racism, Sexism and Homophobia will not be tolerated at QC.
  15. That packs containing standing orders (based on NUS), list of speakers/ workshops, accommodation, terminology & definitions, Issues, traditional owners of the land, info on Racism & Sexism, info on political correctness, local tourism info, rego info, campus contacts etc. These packs will be sent to each campus at least 1 month before conference.
  16. Qc 2001 recommends that queer activist networks nationwide support the struggle for freedom from incarceration and full settlement rights (for refugee/asylum seekers) currently imprisoned in detention centres.
  17. That QC encourages Queer activists to organize visibly queer contingents to Anti -racist rallies (eg free the refugees) including placards, banners & leaflets (eg “Queer students support freeing the refugees.
  18. That QC condemns the Commonwealth Heads Of Govt Meeting (CHOGM) for its complacency and/or active support of: homophobia, human rights abuses, environmental destruction, promotion of free trade, privatisation, imperialism- genocide of Indigenous people. Further that QC's acknowledges that CHOGM is not a forum that can be significantly reformed. Therefore QC's supports a shut down of both the business forum and the heads of Govt forum. QC is calling for a national Queer block to blockade the commonwealth Business Forum (CBF) in Melbourne on the 3rd of Oct and a blockade of CHOGM on the 6th of Oct in Brisbane.
  19. That QC recognises the right of individuals to self-determined gender identity. That QC2002 therefore recognizes the right of individuals to identify as genders other than male and female. That QC rejects the idea of a male-female gender restriction and will therefore if/when people are required to put their gender on a form, instead of having tick boxes, have a blank space for people to fill in their gender.
  20. That a focus be placed on actively encouraging the Deaf Community to participate in Queer Collaborations conferences.
  21. That UNSW put coming out information on the reading list they are compiling.
  22. That NUS run a national coming out day. M: Coming Out Workshop Monday

Amend - That NUS distribute information about a national coming out day and include material about the cultural specificity of coming out.

  1. That name badges be provided throughout the week of the conference.
  2. That QC not clash with NAIDOC week.
  3. That `queer' grievance counsellors and queer psychologists/counsellors on hand to maintain the mental health of attendees formally introduced at the start of the conference.
  4. That QC2001 call on the National Union of Students to increase the National Queer Officers from ¼ time to ½ time to foster a greater ability to nationally network and resource student associations and queer collectives.
  5. That QC2001 condemn the Howard government for its proposed changes to IVF legislation to discriminate against lesbians and single women.
  6. That QC2001 call on NUS to open its resources to the QC2002 organising collective and the Querelle 2002 collective to facilitate both of these projects.
  7. That QC2001 is outraged by the proposed closure of the Townsville office of the Queensland AIDS Council and condemns the Queensland government for the massive under-funding of the AIDS Council.
  8. That people with special needs be encouraged to attend the facilities provided for their accessibility and needs.
  9. That preliminary information about Queer Space (estimated costs, dates, and location) be available by the end of QC to facilitate planning by Universities intending to send delegates. That an explanation of what Queer Space is, plus the above information be available as a handout or printed in the program so that interested students can consider attending.
  10. That the QC floor recognizes the issues faced by Small, Regional and Suburban/Isolated campuses. A period of time be allocated for specific workshopping and integral networking on the issues at hand, at least half a day. That basic collective organizing be worked on the specific issues facing queers on small and regional campuses.
  11. That the 2002 collective network with CAPA and directly invite postgraduate students.
  12. That QC recognizes that all forms of structural oppression and discrimination, which can include but is not limited to discrimination against bisexuals, transgendered people, people who don't conform to gender stereotypes and disabled persons. These are undesirable and should not be tolerated at the conference.
  13. That last year's motion about a blanket ban on drag queen performances be repealed.

  14. That a conference information office be established and staffed for specific times during the conference.
  15. That QC becomes a queer autonomous space.
  16. That QC recognises that people have different levels of political activity, involvement and belief but that political activity is encouraged. That this does not restrict rigorous political debate.
  17. That we do some cultural action eg. Very colourful, rainbow, creative and coordinated performance art in a mall or other appropriate space. TABLED to Canberra
  18. That we have optional workshops as a meditation circle, bush walk or some exercise, yoga and healing session in the program.
  19. That the QC collective provide equipment/materials to facilitate sports, exercise, etc.
