What can I do when someone is having a seizure?

If a person falls near something dangerous like a fire, move them away;
otherwise do not move the person.

DO NOT TRY TO FORCE ANYTHING
BETWEEN THE TEETH

If you force an object between the teeth
you will break them or get your fingers bitten.
Tongues heal -- broken teeth do not!

AS SOON AS THE JERKING STOPS AND BREATHING STARTS, MAKE SURE THAT THE PERSON CAN BREATH FREELY. LOOSEN CLOTHING AROUND THE NECK AND TURN THE HEAD TO THE SIDE SO THAT THE TONGUE DOES NOT FALL BACK.
(It is impossible to swallow one's tongue as it firmly fixed to the floor of the mouth.)

DO NOTHING MORE!! LEAVE THE PERSON TO RECOVER.

DO NOT . . .

. . . SLAP THE FACE
. . . TRY TO `BRING THE PERSON ROUND'
. . . GIVE THEM ANYTHING TO DRINK
. . . RESTRAIN UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL
